What is a FEIN?

A Federal Employee Identification Number, or FEIN, is a type of tax identification number used by the Internal Revenue Service. It is a number made up of nine digits given to businesses, corporations, estate, and other legal entities, to track taxes owed and paid. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the FEIN (Federal Employee Identification Number) and the EIN (Employee Identification Number) are very similar with little difference between the two. The terms can be used interchangeably without any issue.
