Adjudication is the legal process of resolving a dispute between public and/or private parties. During adjudication, all interested parties must be notified and given the opportunity to present their evidence and arguments for the dispute. Then an impartial party, such as a judge or jury, makes a decision. The decision is final. Adjudication is a faster and easier court process and is thus often used for disputes involving money or nonviolent infractions. Filing for bankruptcy and validating an insurance claim both use adjudication.
