Investigative Reporters

What are Investigative Reporters?

Investigative Reporters

Investigative reporters are journalists who investigate a topic much more deeply than a typical news story and publish an extensive article on the subject at hand. While a regular news article published by a journalist can be researched and written relatively quickly, a reporter who specializes in investigative journalism often spends weeks, months, or even years interviewing sources and gathering supporting documents for their report. Investigative reporters often work full-time for well-known publications, but some do work on a freelance basis and can be hired to investigate a specific topic of interest for a client.
