Debt Collection Agency

A debt collection agency is a company that is hired by creditors to collect unpaid or past due debt. The debt collection agency will attempt to contact the individual who is delinquent on their payments and try to convince them to repay the money that is owed. Debt collection companies typically mail letters and make phone calls to reach the individuals who owe money. In extreme cases, a debt collection agency may take the matter to court in an attempt to garnish wages or repossess assets. In some cases, a debt collection agency will purchase the debt from the creditor at a fraction of the balance of the debt, allowing the creditor to move on with the guaranteed money and allowing the debt collection agency to keep any money successfully recovered.
