Online safety refers to the mindset and practice of staying safe while using the internet. General rules of online safety include never sharing personal information (unless dealing with verified and reputable companies or making a purchase or transaction from a secure website). One should always all financial information private, including bank account numbers, PIN numbers, and social security numbers. Avoid visiting insecure websites or clicking suspicious or unknown links. Online safety practices also include never sharing passwords or leaving accounts logged in on publicly accessible computers. Internet users should create complex passwords and change them 2 to 3 times a year.
