Skip Tracing

Private investigators employ skip tracing when a person of interest or fugitive cannot be found in their normal hangouts or place of residence. In this term, “skip” is used to reference the subject being searched for and is shorthand for “to skip town” and “tracing” refers to locating the wanted person. Skip tracing may also be referred to as locate cases and often require legal basis before the person of interest’s location can be turned over to a third party.
